Wipe `Em Clean

Doctors agree that when you're on the go, the gentlest and most effective way to wash your child's hands is simply with a baby wipe. Since infant skin is more permeable, steer clear of alcohol-based sanitizers until he is at least 2 years old, suggests Benjamin Lee M.D., an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. They're too easily absorbed before then, which puts him at risk of alcohol toxicity.

Last Day of Work!

Yepeey! One more day and hubby is off from work again! I just love weekends. And in our family, weekend starts on Tuesdays and ends on Fridays. That's right! We have 4 days playtime. That's because hubby works 12 hours a day for 3 days. Anyway, we already have plans this weekend. Aside from the trip to Idaho, hubby promised to take me to the mall so I can start shopping for artificial christmas trees and decors. I'm putting up the tree early this year because it is Jaden's first Christmas! Although he is too young to understand what the celebration is all about but I'm pretty sure he will enjoy seeing a pretty Christmas tree.

The code I got from the online slideshow maker I used in creating the photo slides below is not working. Please stay tuned as I try to fix it. I used the same code in my other blog and I didn't have any problems. Hmmnn... what could probably be causing this minor technical glitch. I followed all the steps, copy/pasted the codes "as is" and published the blog post as it should be. I didn't alter anything but still it's not working. Hmmp! Anyways, I think I'll just request for another code. Not java script this time. But I'll do my research first about mesothelioma because hubby needs more information on this debilitating disease. Be right back!

For the Nth Time!

We are watching Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie and although we have seen this one several times already, we still enjoyed it. I think it's a great family movie and it teaches a great lesson especially for parents who are dealing with teenagers and vice versa.

Anyway, as much as I want to finish the movie, I had to stop and concentrate reading this life insurance pamphlete sent to me by our agent so I will better understand what life insurance options are available for me and how life insurance rate are calculated.

Saturday Six: Episode 289

Grabbed HERE.

1. What is the most unusual ethnic food you’ve had at a restaurant recently?
~ Sushi! That's because I don't really eat that kind of food but some force pulled me towards the sushi bar, I got some, and I liked it!

2. What is the last ethnic dish you tried to make at home?
~ Biko (Sweet Rice Treat from the Philippines)

3. Regarding your answer to question 2, was your concoction better or worse than you’d hoped?
~ Hmmnn... it was better because that was the first time I made it without the supervision of my granny. But I added more coco milk that needed so it turned out less sticky than usual.

4. What exotic dish do you most wish you could replicate in your own kitchen?
~ Pork Sisig!

5. Take the quiz: Which What Kind of Chinese Food Are You?
~ I'm a DUMPLING: You are cute, polite, and considerate. You are well known for your generosity, and you truly love to share. You have a real style and presence about you. You know how to take the simplest thing and make it look chic.

You tend to order carefully and conservatively off the menu of life. Simplicity is your motto, and you don't like to take on too much at once. You are the type of person who does one thing at a time, really immersing yourself in the moment. You detest multitasking.

6. Have you ever tried the dish mentioned in the answer to question 5?
~ Yep, many times! My fave is Shark Fin Dumplings from Mandarin Tea Garden.

Good News!

Hubby already received the new auto insurance quote he requested from his agent and he is happy because his monthly rate was lowered to 20% off. That's because he was a careful driver and never had any accidents since he got his driver's license more than a year ago. Although he got pulled over once by a traffic police but he got away with it without any ticket. He was just warned and he kept it in mind that's why until now he had not committed any traffic violation. The sheriff did a good job in "educating" him about traffic rules. Hehe!

What Email Function Are You?

I'm an Archive

You are competent, organized, and careful. You know how to stay on task and focus on the most important thing. You like to have everything in its place. Messes and chaos completely stress you out.

You have a system for almost everything in your life, and you don't like to deviate from it. Calendars, routines, and having things in a certain order keeps you calm. You don't like to shake things up too much.

~ I'm not sure if the husband will agree! Haha!

He Needs Help!

My friend could really use a business plan writer. I just read the business plan he wrote for his new business venture and although I don't want to hurt his feelings, I have to be honest and tell him the truth. I am not impressed at all. How would he convince other people to invest in his business if the plan doesn't sound convincing at all. I just hope he won't take it against me. I am just concerned because he already spent a lot of time, money and effort for this. I don't want to see it all go to waste.

I better show this to the husband when he comes home from work! Hehe!

Road Trip

When we went to Las Vegas two weeks ago, I was hoping to see a lot of metal buildings and factories along the way but the sight that greeted us was different. There were mountains, ranches and vast farmlands instead. And when we passed by the border of Arizona, we got a glimpse of the Grand Canyon. It was breathtaking and we were really awed at how majestic the mountains are. It is truly a masterpiece that God alone can create.

Love It!

I was browsing these candle sconces awhile ago and the moment I saw the Bigso Leaf Wall Sconce, I knew right there and then that's it's the perfect wall accent on our entryway. But of course, I still have to consult the husband because he's the one paying for it. LOL! It's important that we both agree on the style, color and price because it's "our" house - not just mine. But I'm confident that he will like what I picked. He knows I've got taste and he trusts me when it comes to decorating our humble abode. :)

Almost 8!

2:20 AM / Comments (0) / by {C-Q Family}

I know I have said this over and over again but time really does fly! I can't imagine that the baby I carried for nine months is about to turn 8 months old this week. A few more months and I will have a tot. *sigh*

Anyway, here is a brief guide to what your baby is learning to do at 8 months.

At 8 months your baby's coordination is rapidly improving and he may even be starting to crawl.

Motor Development

* Your baby is learning to open and close fingers deliberately. With this new skill he can throw and drop objects. So look out!
* Can use her hands to explore textures by patting, stroking and touching
* May begin crawling, oftentimes pushing themselves backwards at first. Not all babies crawl - your baby may scoot across the floor on his bottom. Babies are very creative in the ways they learn to move around
* Your baby may be enjoying sitting unsupported
* He may start pulling himself up to a standing position using furniture

Language and Intellectual Development

* Your baby will start to imitate a lot more sounds and develop quite a broad and varied range of vocalizations. All of this is building up towards first words. So encourage all those wonderful sounds!
* Some sleeping problems can arise when your baby becomes overstimulated. Your baby has now learned how to deliberately stay awake
* By this age your baby may have 1,000 trillion brain connections called synapses. The number of these connections that are made is determined by a child's early experiences

Social and Emotional Development

* Enjoys looking at own image in the mirror. May even try to kiss or pat the mirror image!
* May sometimes want to cuddle into your chest when meeting new people
* May protest at being separated from you. Give lots of extra cuddles and support and this separation anxiety will soon pass
* If learning to crawl your baby may be a little fearful of letting you out of his sight as they discover this new and important skill

Remember, your baby is an individual!

All babies are unique and meet milestones at their own pace. Developmental guidelines simply show what your baby has the potential to accomplish — if not right now, then soon. If your baby was premature, keep in mind that kids born early usually need a bit more time to meet their milestones. If you have any questions at all about your baby's development, ask your healthcare provider.

FALLing!

Oh my gosh! I can't help but fall over these cozumel vacation packages! It makes me want to board the earliest flight to Mexico tomorrow! How I wish I have the money to take my boys there and hubby has the time to take a week's off from work. *sigh*

But since we are going home next year to the Philippines, we can't afford to take another vacation. We need to raise vacation funds as much as we could so we can give our little boy a big 1st birthday party celebration.

Hello peepz! We are back from our 4 days and 3 nights vacation at Las Vegas! We really had a blast! How I wish we could stay longer but hubby had to go back to work so we have no choice but to pack our things and drive back here in SLC. But anyways, LV is just 6 hours away so we can always go back there whenever there's a chance. Hopefully it will be soon... :)

Off to a Family Vacation!

We are off to a family vacation this Tuesday! And tagging along with us is my mom-in-law who came all the way from the Philippines to visit us. I already booked a 3-night stay at Circus Circus Hotel in Las Vegas and the only thing left to do is to pack our Samsonite luggage! We are all excited! This is our first time to visit the Sin City and hopefully we will all get lucky in the slot machines. Wish us all the luck! LOL! And of course, please pray for our safe travel because it's hubby's first time to be driving in that area.
